Kosciusko HutsThe Kosciusko area contains a number of old huts. These were primarily used by stockmen while sheep and cattle grazing during the summer. Others were constructed for ski touring and for use by SMA (Snowy Mountains Authority, a major hydroelectric scheme) workers. These are now used mainly by bushwalkers, grazing having ceased in the park. Unfortunately a number of huts were destroyed in the bushfires in early 2003. A good source of information on the huts is the Kosciusko Huts AssociationReturn to Main Index |
